Public Presentation: Options for a sustainable take-off of renewable energy in Cameroon, February 20, 2020

The conference hall of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) Cameroon/Central Africa hosted, on Thursday 20 February 2020, the solemn presentation ceremony of a book on renewable energies, entitled “Political and legal options for a sustainable take-off of renewable energies in Cameroon”. Supervised by Mrs. Nina NETZER, Resident Representative of the host foundation, this activity brought together many participants from the public, para-public and private sectors. After recalling the genesis of the project of writing this book in her welcome address, she said that the objective of the project was to provide information on the importance and potential of renewable energy in Cameroon as well as to highlight the possible obstacles to the sustainable take-off of this sector, in order to propose in a more informed manner strategies for a real deployment of renewable energy throughout the national triangle.

The presentations made by its authors and the exchanges with the audience have helped to clarify the different articulations of the book and to renew the interest of participants in the issues of promotion of renewable energy. At the closing of this ceremony of solemn presentation of the book, the participants as a whole were strongly invited not only to an urgent and meticulous reading of this document, but also to proceed to an exercise of appropriation and popularization of the results it contains.
