Are human rights defenders protected in Cameroon? Douala, June 2019

The training workshop on the theme: “Promotion and Protection of Human Rights at the national, regional and international levels”, held in Douala from 5th to 7th June 2019 as part of the Young Leaders Programme, aimed to answer the above question. Young people from civil society organizations, political parties and trade unions from the different regions of Cameroon took part to this training.
During the training, participants gained knowledge on the legal instruments and institutional mechanisms that govern, promote and protect human rights, the practical security guidelines to be used as human rights defenders, as well as the different procedures for referring violations to national, regional and international institutions.
The young leaders were encouraged at the end of the training to identify, protect and defend human rights in their respective environments without discrimination.
